US Soccer Fitness Standards

Players are encouraged at TN United to be in the best physical condition possible.

Fitness and conditioning takes dedication and training. It is a key component of the game of soccer and can become the difference between winning and losing when fatigue sets in.

Because coaches have a limited opportunity to work with players during the season on the field it is important players come prepared for the rigors of the game at the select level.

At TN United we encourage all our coaches to incorporate a fitness and conditioning component into their “economical” training sessions. In a structured coaching environment we want players working with a ball the vast majority of the time particularly at the younger ages. The player may suppliment that work away from the field without a ball. As they get older players will be encouraged to take charge of their fitness and conditioning both during the season and in the off-season.
