Tryouts and College ID Showcase Sessions Announced

TN United announces tryout and college ID showcase sessions for Girls High School age players in November.

TN United will hold two sessions on Sunday, November 20th at 11-1p.m. and 3-5p.m.  open to all current high school aged girls on teams at TN United as well as high school age girls who have not yet signed a letter of commitment to play club soccer in 2011/2012. These sessions are designed to provide an opportunity for players who have not yet committed to a club to showcase their ability with existing TN United players if they are interested in joining an existing team, or as we form more teams in these age groups.  Current TN United and unsigned players will also have an opportunity to showcase their talent to a number of college head and assistant coaches at the event who will be scouting players for the next level.

We're hopeful that you will be able to join us that day and have the opportunity to watch and meet players you may look to recruit at the college level in the future.

We'll have current college coaches running the training sessions and play 11 vs 11 games where you can assess players in a match environment.

 

Many of our former players are currently playing college soccer. Ex-TN United players are on the roster at King College, Tevecca University, TN Weslyan, Campbellsville University, Bethel college, Union university, Cincinnatti christian college, Cumberland university, Maryville college, Freed Hardman and  Christian Brothers university.

TUSC Unveils Winter Indoor Programs

TUSC has partnered with several local area facilities to provide Winter indoor training opportunities to the players who have been asking us for year round soccer programs.

Goodlettsville Parks Department will be administering and running an indoor Futsal league in their fantastic recently redeveloped Delmas Community Center. A player centered approach to the program will see players assigned to a team in the U-10, U-12 and U-14 boys or girls age groups in order to produce competative games on a weekly basis over the winter period. Futsal is a skill based version of soccer and the program has been designed not only to increase the technical skill level of players but to encourage experimentation on the ball, leadership, quick decision making, and an improved first touch. The coaching staff highly recommend participation by as many of our young players as possible.

 

The club has worked hard to secure additional indoor training space for use over the Winter period. Team managers will be offered the opportunity to reserve space on a first come first served basis at weekends beginning in January 2012. New U8 Academy Program an Outstanding Success

TUSC is coming to the end of the first season of the U-8 academy at our club. In conjunction with our recreational affiliates, Hendersonville soccer club and Middle TN Futbol Club, TUSC coaches have begun to develop a program to ensure players have a grasp of the fundemental skills and techniques to succeed and have fun, whether that be at the select or recreational level.

The concepts of "one player, one ball", developing a love for the sport and a "games oriented" approach to guided discovery are the core values behind the program which has incorporated over 50 players, both boys and girls in the Friday night sessions. Our players have also had the opportunity twice this year to compete against other clubs U-8 programs, to get a taste for future competition, a basic understanding of small group tactics and an opportunity to test themselves in a more challanging environment. The program continues to evolve and we encourage players born between August 1 2003 and July 31st 2004 to participate or contact us to get further information about the program.

 

Boys Teams Qualify for D1 State Tournament

Congratulations to the the three boys teams that have qualified via the state league for the Division 1 State Championship Tournament to be held in Murfreesboro on November 12-14.

The 98 Boys Red team under the guidance of coach Gavin Mckinney came through a difficult bracket winning 4 of their 6 games to reach the finals.

A thrilling 2-2 tie in their final game assured Bryan Johnson's 97 Boys Red team qualified for the finals for the second season running.

The 95 Boys Red, led by Coach Chris Kavanagh earned a win away at Brentwood in a winner-takes-all affair.


Congratulations to all the teams on their success.

TUSC Coaching Staff Recognized as Amongst the Best in the State

Once again our coaching staff have been rewarded for their excellence in honors bestowed by their peers.
Four members of staff have been chosen to coach Olympic Development Program (ODP) teams for the state of TN: Bryan Johnson, Gavin McKinney, Andy Poklad, and Eric Susewind.
In addition, Andy Poklad has been named the district chairman of the Middle District - one of six districts that comprise the state soccer association in TN.
Congratulations to Eric Susewind, Daniel Fox, and Brad Camp, all of whom took their USSF C license this summer and passed.

TUSC's Kalie Carter Makes ODP Region Pool

TUSC 96 Girls Red player Kalie Carter became the first girl at the club to make the ODP region 3 team in our history. She is the second player in as many years to achieve that mark and our congratulations go out to her for her achievements. Kalie has captained the 96 team at TUSC and represented the ODP TN team admirably. She recently travelled to England with the TN 96 team where they trained at Chelsea Academy. Currently rehabing a knee injury, she has taken on a mentoring role as an assistant coach with our 99 girls red team coached by Daniel Fox. All of us at the club can't wait to see her back on the field soon representing TUSC, the state team, and the regional team.
