Administrative Team

Steven Henson

Executive Director

Steve Henson grew up in Nashville and played for Hendersonville United. Henson graduated from Davidson Academy and went on to be a 4 year starter and captain at Western Kentucky University. He received a Bachelor in Science for Physical Education and Health along with K-12 Teacher Certification. He also earned a Master of Arts in Education. Henson played 5 years for the Nashville Metros. Henson began his coaching career with youth teams in Bowling Green, KY. He became the first coach of the Bowling Green High School’s girls soccer program and went on to coach the boys program as well. He has coached Div. I college men at Northeastern Illinois University and Div. II college women at Florida Southern. Henson served as the Executive Director at Southern Kentucky Soccer along with being the Director of Soccer Operations at Tampa Bay United. Coach Henson has served as Academy Director, Recreational Director, Tournament Director and Boys and Girls DOC along with coaching boys and girls teams from U9-U18 at multiple youth soccer clubs. This fall will begin the 27th year in a row that he has coached a youth team. Henson holds a USSF B License along with the Coerver

Jonathan Wayland

Director of Operations

Jonathan Wayland, was born in Kentucky where he played Club, High School and ODP Soccer. He was a 2-time Region MVP and 2-time All-State player and was named to the NSCAA Central Region All-American team. He also played on an American Ambassador team on a two-week tour of Europe. He went on to play Division 1 soccer for the University of Louisville and Belmont University where he graduated. He has previous coaching experience from Mockingbird Soccer Club in Louisville. Jonathan has been the TUSC Technical Director since July 2006. Part of Jonathan’s duties as Technical Director consist of Coach and Player development and evaluation, TUSC Summer Team Camp, Tryout and Team formation, and assisting in the overall development and direction of the Club Teams, Coaches and Players. One of Jonathan’s first responsibilities as the Technical Director was to help develop the TUSC Junior Academy and Academy programs which continue to serve our players today through the existing Academy and U8 Programs. He coached the TUSC 93 Girls Red team to the 2004 Tennessee State Championship and 2005 Tennessee State Finalist. He coached the TUSC 95 Girls Red to the 2007 State Championship. Jonathan also ran the Academy system through U11 with the TUSC 96 Girls Red who won the 2008 Tennessee State Championship. Jonathan coached the 98 Boys Red and 2001 Boys Red team to the State Semifinals in 2011 and 2013, respectively. He has coached teams that won top groups at both the Germantown Invitational and CASL Shootout. He has also coached teams to the finals of the Atlanta Cup and Vulcan Cup. Jonathan’s players have enjoyed success at the ODP, Collegiate and National level. Jonathan is currently the 05 boys red coach after leaving last year’s position as Academy Director for the 2006 Boys Academy. Jonathan holds an NSCAA National Diploma, a USSF National License and an NSCAA Level 1 Goalkeeper Diploma.

Eddie Carvacho

DOC U13-U19

Eddie has spent a lifetime career in coaching from youth to the highest level of soccer in the United States and in sports management working with two MLS sports franchises and negotiating sports properties for Fortune 500 clients. Eddie brings a wealth of coaching experience and knowledge to TUSC. He has held the role of club director of coaching with full staff supervision responsibilities, has accumulated extensive hands on experience in strategic management, charting direction of youth recreational and travel select club programs. He has a proven track record of coaching supervision and mentorship.  He also brings youth club specific facility management, marketing, sponsorships, tournament and camps operations skills. Eddie is returning “home” (wife Nicole is a Hendersonville HS grad and son Nico was born in Hendersonville) ready to assist in building the next generation of great players on and off the field through his passionate style.

Coach Eddie’s soccer background includes a USSF A License; USSF Youth National License; NSCAA Premier Diploma; former Columbus Crew-Major League Soccer assistant coach and Reserve team Head Coach; Clemson University Assistant Coach; Former professional player, a US Men’s national team pool goalkeeper and Collegiate Division 1 All American.

Alistair (Ally) Morrell

DOC U7-U12

From Scotland, Coach Ally signed his first contract with a professional club at the age of 13. After interest from several professional clubs both in the England and Scotland he opted to sign a two year contract as a full time youth pro in the Scottish Premier league. Afterward, Ally spent several years playing semi-professional soccer as well as spending time as a student at the University of Montevallo, Alabama on a soccer scholarship.

Coach Ally has been involved in coaching from youth to semi pro level. Most recently he has had huge success as Director of Liverpool FC’s academy in South Tampa. Coach Ally has a wealth of playing/coaching experience combined with UEFA, NSCAA, USSF, NASM and Coerver Licensure. Coach Ally brings out the best in his future soccer stars as both people and players through his positive attitude combined with a desire to constantly learn and evolve as a coach.

Zack Trobaugh

Tournament Director

Zack Trobaugh, a former player at TN United, has a National Diploma from the NSCAA along with a National D license from the USSF. After leaving the club as a player he moved on to play collegiately at Young Harris College and Trevecca Nazarene University where he graduated. He began his coaching career at White House Soccer Club while playing at Trevecca where he was a 2 time TranSouth scholar athlete. He currently coaches our 2000 boys and 2004 red girls teams.

Coach Trobaugh was named Boys Competitive Coach of the Year for 2016 by the Tennessee State Soccer Association due to work with the 2000 boys. He and his boys team qualified NPL and the premier division of SRPL.

Team Coaches

Andy Arbuckle

Andy Arbuckle grew up playing soccer in Chattanooga. He received the award for All Area, as the goal keeper for Ooltewah High School, where he allowed only 6 goals and 8 goals in back to back seasons. This helped his team reach the Regional Finals and the State Championship. Andy has coached for Hendersonville Soccer Club for ages U6-U10 and a girls 03 travel team. He has also served on the Board of Directors for HSC and has been a referee for over 20 years. He holds a USSF E-License and is currently coaching in the U9 Boys Academy.

Bob Bertotti

Bob Bertotti grew up in Hendersonville and played club soccer for then Hendersonville United Soccer Club. He continued playing club soccer throughout his teen years while being a four year varsity player at Hendersonville High School under Coach Russ Plummer. After playing Division I College soccer at Western Kentucky University, Bob has gone on to coach for over 8 years in both the Hendersonville Soccer Club and TN United Academy programs.  He is also an ACE certified personal trainer. As he completes his USSF D-license, Bob serves as Co-Director of the TUSC Junior Academy and will train U7s and U8s in Goodlettsville this year.

Bernard Bisch

Bernard Bisch was born and raised in Strausbourg France where he played both youth and adult soccer for RC Strausbourg. As an Executive Chef, he moved to the United States in 1989 living in New York, New Jersey and Hawaii before re-locating to Tennessee in the summer of 2013. Bernard has been with TN United for 2 years and is eager to resume coaching with the club. While living in Hawaii he was a coach for 6 years as well as served on the Youth Soccer Board. Upon his move to TN, he coached at another Travel Club and is glad and proud to represent TUSC.

Melissa Brown

Melissa Brown began playing soccer at a young age in Lexington, Kentucky before moving to Hendersonville with her family at the age of 12. In Hendersonville she played club soccer for Hendersonville United Girls Soccer (affectionately know as the HUGS). During high school Melissa was a 4 year varsity starter and helped to lead the Lady Commandos to two final four appearances during her junior and senior years. Melissa was also part of the state ODP program during her time in high school. Coaching has been a goal of Melissa’s from a young age. Previous coaching experiences include 4 years as an assistant at Hendersonville High School as well as coaching various teams that her own children have played on through the Hendersonville Soccer League.

Jason Bruns

Jason Bruns grew up in Knoxville TN playing soccer for then Knoxville United, high school and TN state ODP team. He is a graduate of University of TN in Memphis of Physical Therapy – sports meds. Jason has coached for 4 years now with Hendersonville Soccer Club and now will be assisting with the U8 boys Academy. Jason is currently finishing up his USSF E-license.

Jim Carr

Jim Carr grew up in Hendersonville playing in the beginning of HSC. He then moved to one of the first travel teams in Hendersonville at age 12. While playing at Hendersonville High School, Jim was named senior captain for Coach Russ Plumber’s first senior class. As a freshman at UT Knoxville he began to build a team that competed at the highest level of student sports programs. After his playing career he has coached at TN United most recently heading up boy’s academy programs. He was also the tournament director as TUSC’s two annual tournaments grew into the biggest single weekend soccer event in the state of TN.  Jim holds a “D” national license and is currently the head coach of Merrol Hyde HS while also leading our oldest boys team 98 red.

Patrick Carr

Patrick Carr currently attends Cumberland University where he is a defender on the men’s team coached by TUSC coaches Kyle Smith and Liam Collins. Previously, Patrick played for his father, TUSC staff coach Jim Carr at Merrol Hyde Magnet School. Patrick finished his last club season with the 95 boys in 2013. Patrick was named an All-District, All-County, and All-Regional midfielder in his last HS season. Patrick currently holds his USSF E-license.

Dave Cleary

Dave Cleary grew up in Florida where he began playing rec soccer . He played several years of club soccer and all through high school.  In 2006 Dave began coaching in the Hendersonville recreational league where he has also served on the BOD and as it’s DOC.  In 2009 he received his USSF E license and has now also obtained his D license as well as the National youth license.  Dave continues to play pick up soccer whenever he can and has previously worked with the Boys 2001 academy program. Dave has previously been a recipient of the coach of the year award at the club for his work with our youngest players. A pioneer of coaching education, Dave has reconstituted the new U8 academy program at TN United and is instrumental in its growth and philosophy.

Hayden Coffman

Goal Keeper Coach

Hayden Coffman grew up in Hendersonville TN and was a member of two-time State Champion Fever ’91 (TUSC ’91). A graduate of Hendersonville High School, Hayden signed a scholarship to play collegiately at Trevecca Nazarene University where he was selected to the All-Conference team numerous years. He holds five goalkeeping records at TNU and after graduating, became an Assistant coach for both Men’s and Women’s programs. Hayden then played two years for the Southern California Seahorses and led the USL-PDL in 4 GK Categories. He currently plays for Nashville FC and serves as the team’s veteran goalkeeper

Liam Collins

Liam Collins grew up in Skibbereen, Ireland and played club soccer with Skibbereen AFC and eventually played for Airtricity League of Ireland side Cork City. He went on to play four years of NCAA Division 1 soccer at the University of Memphis ending his time there tied for 1st in all-time assists in school history as well as earning all conference awards for 3 consecutive years as well as being named to the Hermann Trophy Watchlist for his junior and senior years. While at Memphis he also played PDL soccer with Hamilton FC (Canada), DC United U23, Kitchener United FC (Canada), and Toronto Lynx (Canada). Liam has coached in four different countries and currently hold a USSF D-License.

Calvin da Cuhna

Calvin da Cuhna  played at Trevecca where he was an All American and All conference player having, played there all 4 years. He played at top level in Ontario Soccer League with Erin Mills Soccer Club before coming to Trevecca. He was the team manager for Trevecca’s men’s team in 2012 while completing an undergraduate degree in Business . Currently a graduate student at Trevecca obtaining Masters in Education Calvin holds an National “C” coaching license having worked with clubs in Canada and in the Nashville area. He has worked with the Ultimate Goal Ministries and their teams and is now working with our 01 girls blue having previously been with the  2003 boys and 2005 girls academy.

Danny Dunleavy

Danny Dunleavy. Native of Dublin, Ireland. Graduated from Martin Methodist College with degree in physical education. While playing at Martin, won the 2013 NAIA national Championship. Two time NAIA All-American (2013,2014). 4 time first team all conference (2011-2014). NAIA academic all American (2014). Currently hold an E license! Coaching the 06 boys blue.

Monica Ellmore

Monica Ellmore is now coaching with our 02 girls red team having progressed through her coaching licenses certification in New Jersey and TN to get a D license and a youth module. She has coached recreational soccer for 9 years and two seasons of middle school soccer. Monica is a teacher by profession has also been a basketball coach and arrived at TN United along with her daughters. Monica is now the holder of a USSF C license and has worked with the 02 red team having previously also been the Speed and agility instructor for the club.

Donnie Evans

Donnie Evans grew up in Hendersonville and played club soccer for Hendersonville United. Donnie played for Hendersonville High School; as well as, Hendersonville United. He went on to play NCAA Div III College soccer at Maryville College as a 4 year starter under current TN ODP and Maryville College Coach Pepe Fernandez. Donnie holds several career stats for Maryville college and is included in the top 5 all time for career goals scored (38) and in the top ten for career assists (18), career points (97), points in a season (40), and goals in a season (16). Donnie has coached for over 10 years at the U8, U9 and U10 age groups. He holds a USSF D National license.

John Ferguson

John Ferguson has 25 years of experience playing, coaching, and refereeing the game of soccer. He was a founding member of the Beech HS soccer program after moving to Tennessee his junior year, and was named All-Conference and All-State, and led the A/AA Conference in goals scored both his junior and senior years. He played for Hendersonville United for 3 years, walked on at WKU (where he realized his limitations as a player), and currently plays for Hendersonville’s over-30 team. His coaching experience ranges from 6 year old rec to high school select. He currently holds an ‘D’ license Coaching License and is a USSF and TSSAA certified referee who has been working with our boys Academy teams developing much of the curriculum and additional programming for these age groups.

Christian Ferguson

Christian Ferguson joined TUSC in its first academy team at age 8.  He played at TUSC until U17.  He started on a varsity high school soccer team for White House High School from his sophomore year onwards. He is currently the assistant coach with the U10 Boys Academy group and is working with his father John, becoming the second generation of his family to work with the club. He is part of the new generation of coaches who played at the club and are now coaching.

Brian Flanary

Brian Flanary grew up in Hendersonville playing soccer from the age of 5, and played select soccer for then Hendersonville United. He played for Hendersonville High School under Coach Russ Plummer. Brian played club soccer while attending Western Kentucky University. He has coached for 6+ seasons at Hendersonville Soccer Club and holds a USSF E-License.

Alyx Gabers

Alyx Gabers was raised at Drakes Creek Park playing club soccer for a team within Hendersonville Futbol Club called the “Hot Shots”.  She recently reminded club DOC Andy Poklad that he was at one time her coach!! After winning a Tennessee State Championship and contending for others, she went on to play at Hendersonville High School eventually being recognized at the county level her senior year.  Now raising her own two children at Tennessee United, Alyx contributes by serving as Program Manager and a USSF E Licensed Coach for the TUSC Junior Academy.

Craig Graff

Craig Graff grew up in Hendersonville playing soccer from the age of 9, and played select soccer for then Hendersonville United. He played for Hendersonville High School and Craig also played club soccer while attending Middle Tennessee State University. He has coached for soccer for various soccer organizations over the past 6 years. This is his first season at Tennessee United Soccer Club and holds a USSF E-License.

Adam Grant

Adam Grant is originally from Dublin, Ireland and is the brother of Memphis University men’s coach Ritchie. He played 3 years at Lambuth University and was twice All- Conference. He transferred to Martin Methodist College for his Senior Year and then coached at Jackson Futbol Club for two years. After graduating from Martin Methodist College(2012) he began his collegiate coaching career as a Graduate Assistant to Gavin McKinney at Cumberland University. He is now the head coach of that university team. Adam holds a USSF C license and is working with our 2004 girls red and 2001 girls red team having previously coached the 00 boys blue team. He is leading the 2001 girls to the regional premier league, the first team at TUSC to do so in recent history.

Clark Hastings

Clark Hastings graduated from Lambuth University with a BS Degree in 2002. He has played soccer including a club team, high school, a TN State ODP team, and college. Clark has received several honors during his playing career including All County, All District, All State, and All Conference. He has coached soccer camps for many years and was Assistant Coach at HHS. Clark was the coaching director at Hendersonville Soccer Club and has previously coached at TUSC with the 94 boys. He holds a D license and specializes in individual training sessions. He will be leading a portion of our U8 academy this year.

Catie Hastings

Catie Hastings grew up in Ridgeland, MS where she played high school soccer for 4 years with Madison Central H.S., which lead her to receive a soccer scholarship to Lambuth University.  At Lambuth, she was a start, center mid-fielder for 4 years.  Catie received a B.S. Degree from Lambuth in May 2002, then moved to Hendersonville. Catie has coached a number of teams previously at TN United including the 97 Girls Team.  She has worked with HSC establishing a skills session program and is well known in the community for her individual, skills and SAQ work; one on one and in small groups. She holds her “D” license and will coaching in the U8 academy.

Neil Howard

Neil Howard is originally from Doncaster, England. Neil has played soccer his entire life and came to the United States in the fall of 2009. Playing and coaching in England led him to a scholarship at Cumberland University, where he was a four year starter, and multiple award winner, both on the field and in the classroom. He was nominated into the First Team Capital-One Academic All-American in the College Division, along with the regional team. Throughout his career at Cumberland, he was named to the dean’s list five times, and was also a NAIA Academic All-American in 2011. He is an D licensed US Soccer coach, as well as a FA Level 2 coach in England.  He graduated from Cumberland University in August 2013 with a Master’s Degree in Sport & Exercise Pedagogy and will be using his knowledge to better athletes in our speed and strength programs as well.

Ben Juillerat

Ben Juillerat has several years of coaching experience in youth level rec to teen select and through to high school. Ben was introduced to soccer when he moved to Tennessee. He was the captain of the soccer team at White House High School and went on to play club at Middle Tennessee State University. He played on a few competitive men’s teams after college, but his true passion is youth player development. Ben will be assisting John Ferguson with the 08 boys in his introduction to TUSC.

Kennedy Kemp

Kennedy Kemp grew up in Hendersonville playing soccer since the age of 5. She has played through our rec league and TUSC from 5-17 years old. She played high school soccer at Hendersonville High School. Kennedy played college ball for 2 years at a Bryan College. Kennedy has her F and E licenses and is working with our academy 07 girls.

Drew Lewis

Drew Lewis played his high school soccer locally at Hendersonville High school. During his club career he captained  Captain of a Div II State Runner-Up Team in 2004 and a Div II State Championship team in 2006. Drew played for Trevecca Nazarene University in 2009 (playing as a freshman before retiring due to a knee injury). He coached in the Hendersonville Soccer club developmental program headed by Clark Hastings in the spring of 2011, has recently passed his D license course  and is coaching the 2007 boys academy at TN United. He was previously been named TUSC coach of the year for his contribution to the club.

Drew Longinotti

Drew Longinotti grew up playing soccer in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was the captain of both his high school and club team and led both teams to a state championship. Drew did his undergraduate studies at Lipscomb University where he played for the Bisons under coach Charles Morrow. Currently, he is working as a personal trainer and is attending nursing school. Drew has earned his “C” license in August of 2014 and was named TUSC coach of the year for 2014/2015. Drew has worked locally with Nashville Soccer United coaching a U-12 boys team and now coaches the 00 boys and girls red teams at the club.

Yannick Lorre

Yannick Lorre currently coaches the 03 Boys Blue. Originally from Dinan, Brittany, North West of France he started as a GK when I was 8 in my local Club in France (F.C. Matignon) then various clubs, at different levels up to Regional Honor (FC Lehon, FC Betton, CPB Rennes, Orleans) until he moved to Mexico and England at 26 and started playing 5 a side and adult leagues. His last Club was in Spain from 2010-2012 (Real de Manzanares, 20 miles North from Madrid). Since moving to the US, he has played Adult league in Columbus, IN as a forward and Indoor in Indianapolis, IN as a GK.

He started to coach at Columbus Express Soccer in Indiana 4 years ago. Currently he has an F, E & D license + NSCAA Level 3. Yannick graduated from the University of Lyon, France and holds a Master of Sc in Quality Management. He currently works as a Global Customer Quality Manager, counts Barcelona, Arsenal and Atletico de Madrid as his favorite teams to watch and Zinedine Zidane his favorite player.

Stephen Lunney

Stephen Lunney is a native of Dublin, Ireland. Stephen moved to Tennessee four years ago to attend college at Martin Methodist in Pulaski, TN. Stephen was a 4-year starting goalkeeper for the varsity men’s soccer team. Stephen also served as the captain of the team during his junior and senior years. In 2013, Stephen captained the team to win the NAIA men’s soccer National Championship. He was named as the MVP of the National Tournament as well as the Most Valuable Defensive Player of the tournament. Stephen was a 3-time Capital One Academic All-America College Division selection (2012-2014). He was also selected as the Capital One Academic All-America College Division Men’s Soccer Player of the Year on two occasions (2013 & 2014). At the end of his junior year he was selected as the Capital One Academic All-America College Division Player of the Year across all NAIA sports. Stephen was also recognized by his conference, the Southern States Athletic Conference, by twice being named the Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year (2013 & 2014) and being named the 2013/14 Male Athlete of the Year. Stephen was also selected as an NAIA All-American for his efforts during his senior campaign. Stephen graduated in May 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Dunia Lutz

Dunia Lutz is originally from East Lansing, MI. She graduated from Michigan State University with a bacherlors of science in Kinesiology. She played club soccer at MPSA Crush in Ann Arbor, MI as well as high school soccer. She will be coaching our 05 Girls Blue team, and currenlty holds her USSF E-license.

Mary Mancin

Mary Mancin grew up in Gainesville, GA playing soccer at North Hall High School and also for the club Atlanta Fire United as a goalkeeper. After having a successful youth career in high school and in club, she earned a scholarship to play at a Top 25 ranked DII program at Columbus State University. At CSU, Mary started 3 out of her 4 years and was chosen multiple times for goalkeeper of the week honors, All-Conference honors, All-Region and Scholar All-Region honors. Overall, she posted a 43-8-6 mark for CSU. Her 43 victories are the second most ever by a Lady Cougar goalkeeper. She also ranks second on the all-time list in saves (176), shutouts (16), third in save percentage (.842), and goals against average (0.60). In 2011, Mary recorded nine shutouts, the most ever by a CSU player and the eighth most in Peach Belt Conference history. During the summers of 2012-2013, she played for the WPSL Georgia Revolution team and won 1st Team All-Conference honors while helping her team make it to the WPSL conference finals in the summer of 2012. She graduated from Columbus State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. Mary was the assistant coach for the Columbus State University women’s soccer program from January 2013-2015. CSU had its record-setting year in 2014 going undefeated during the regular season and ending with a record of 21-1-1, and finishing with a NCAA ranking of #5. Mary is currently finishing her Master’s Degree in Exercise Science from Columbus State and will graduate in May 2015. She holds her USSF ‘C’ license. She also is a Georgia Soccer coaching course instructor for E, F, and G licenses. Mary will be coaching with the 02 Girls Red team at Tennessee United. She has most recently been named as a new Belmont University’s assistant coach with a specialty in goalkeepers.

Rainer Mays

Rainer Mays grew up in Hendersonville and played club soccer for Tennessee United. During his teen years, Rainer played center-mid for Pope John Paul II High School and Coach Alan Mila as well as Tennessee United. He went on to play NAIA soccer at Spring Hill College and started as a freshmen under current University of Mobile head coach Daniel Whelan. Rainer has an E license and has been working with TUSC’s U9 boys academy prior to his current position with the 04 boys white team.

Steve Mazur

Steve Mazur has a USSF D license and will be leading the 04 girls white having previously worked in the girls academy and with the 03 girls blue at TN United. Since coming to Tennessee from New Jersey in 2008, he has been a head coach in the Hendersonville Recreation League in the U8 and U10 divisions.

Jason Monaghan

Jason Monaghan grew up playing soccer in NJ and was a 4 year starter at Kings High School. He received South Jersey Parochial school district honors before being recruited to play at Division II Harding University. After an injury ended his collegiate career he worked as a Grad Assist for the Harding University Women’s Soccer team. After graduation he was the assistant coach for the Waterford Wings U15 boys. They became the number 3 indoor team in the nation. Jason will be working with our 06 girls academy in his first year at the club.

John-David Murphy

John-David (JD) Murphy – Goalkeeper Coach, comes to TN United after completing a successful playing career as the goalkeeper at Lipscomb University. He is a Canadian native moving up the ranks from the Ontario Youth Soccer League to become a member of the U-18 national team pool for his country. He trained with Bury F.C. in England before returning to pursue a degree in business management and marketing. JD has been an assistant, goalkeeper and head coach at the youth level for the Ajax United and Whitby Iroquois clubs in Canada as well as a season as the middle school coach at Goodpasture. JD holds a USSF “D” License and an NSCAA national diploma. JD has coached the 93 girls, 2000 girls and 98 boys red team and is currently the club’s GK trainer.

Rory O’Connor

Rory O’Connor is a USSF D licensed coach from Dublin Ireland and the brother of NCAA D1 coach Richie. Rory played college soccer at University of Memphis, picking up various honors along the way, captaining the team for two years and was player of the year his final year. During his college career he coached at Jackson Wolves and Memphis Lobos. Rory has recently become assistant coach at Cumberland University under fellow TUSC coach Kyle Smith and coaches TUSC’s 04 boys red team after a spell with the 03 girls blue team.

Jesse Ochoa

Jesse Ochoa is a native of St. Louis, MO. He coached youth soccer for various clubs in San Diego, CA and Jacksonville, FL for five years before moving to Tennessee in 2014. Since arriving, he has been with MTFC in Goodlettsville, coaching U6G. Jesse holds degrees from the University of Missouri – Columbia and Vanderbilt University. An active duty Naval Aviator, he currently serves as the Aviation Officer for Vanderbilt’s Naval ROTC unit where he is responsible for the mental, moral, and physical development of 50 Midshipmen.

David Pepper

David Pepper grew up right here in Hendersonville. He played 10 plus years fall and spring for the Hendersonville rec league. After graduating from HHS he went to Vol State Community College where he earned his Associate degree in Chemistry and transferred to Cumberland University where he received his degree in Math with teacher Licensure. He currently works at GHS where he has taught for 11 years and coaches the boys and girls indoor team for 3 years and girls travel ball as well. He also coached u6 rec ball 4 years ago and is now the current coach of the 05 gray team.

Jeff Pierce

Jeff Pierce comes to TN United having previously coached at various clubs in the mid-state including Columbia, Impact, Brentwood, TNFC and TSC. Jeff played for the state team in California and was a track and cross country athlete at the University of Nevada, Reno before moving east. He holds a NSCAA National Diploma and USSF National D License. Jeff coached the 02 Boys White team in his first year at TN United and will be coaching the 01 boys blue again in 2015/2016.

Wyatt Pierce

Wyatt Pierce has years of coaching experience in the north east before moving to TN. He was the Director of Coaching for the Northern Crew Soccer Club in Butler PA from 2006-2008 having coached there since 2002.Wyatt coached all age groups at the club also finding time to run a soccer tots franchise. Wyatt has been an assistant for the Pittsburgh strikers soccer club, Northern Steel and Mars High school as well as getting involved with the ODP program for PA west. Wyatt majored in athletic training and exercise science while at Slippery Rock University. He has a USSF D license and an NSCAA National License and currently coaches our 2005 boys blue team and 05 girls red team.

McKenzie Polk

McKenzie Polk played rec at drakes creek and Moss Wright parks from age 4-7. At the age of 8 years old she joined TUSC playing her first year in the academy for Daren Frank and for TUSC 98 White for Nolan Pitman. And for Dusty Sharp on the TUSC 98 Blue team. She played for this team until the Spring of 2015 and also played for Station Camp High School. Her versatility as a goalkeeper and an outfield player has translated into a coaching career with a u-8 girls rec team my sophomore year and the TUSC mentor program her junior year with the 2005 girls. She is now coaching in the U8 academy under Clark Hastings and has her F license and E licenses.

Scott Preston

Scott Preston grew up playing club and High School soccer in Connecticut. Scott is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University and holds degrees in Communication and Special Education. He currently holds a USSF E license and has been involved with Tennessee United Soccer Club for 5 years most recently helping coach the Wednesday night silks training. He is also the parent of an 02 red team player.

Richie Reichenberger

Richie Reichenberger grew up in Hendersonville, playing for Fever 92′ and TUSC 92′ and went on to play college soccer at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville TN. After college he played with a Professional Arena Soccer Team in St. Louis, and was on the Nashville FC. squad in 2015.  Richie will be working with our academy boys program and is also the coach of the Hendersonville High school JV boys.

Dusty Sharp

Dusty Sharp was born in Nashville in 1981. He grew up in Knoxville playing at the club level initially for Smoky Mountain Soccer club and later Knoxville Impact. A four year varsity starter at Bearden High School. He signed an athletic scholarship and played four years at King College in Bristol, TN. His junior year of college (summer 02) he traveled to Gambia, West Africa and trained with the National Team. Has helped coach various camps throughout his college career and assisted with coaching at Tennessee High School on the JV level. A qualified lawyer and graduate of the  Nashville School of Law he has worked with TUSC’s girls 99 blue team and is currently heading up the boys 03 red team having worked last year with 99 boys red and 98 girls blue teams.

Grant Sketo

Grant Sketo holds a USSF E license and will be working with the 07 Academy girls at TN United where he leads the ball mastery program. Grant comes to us from the recreational side of Hendersonville soccer where he coached U8 and under for 4 years. He grew up playing recreational soccer in Alabama until high school. He was on the varsity soccer team for his High School and played club soccer with the Quantum Lazers.

Liz Spragens

Liz Spragens was raised in Nashville, TN. She was a 4-year starter at Hume-Fogg Academic, serving as captain her senior year and earning district, region, and state recognition. She also played club soccer for three years and won a state championship in 2005. After graduating, Liz redshirted a year at Ohio Weslyan, then played one season at Sewanee, garnishing conference honors and being named Sewanee Newcomer of the Year. However, she has not played competitive soccer since that season due to a back injury. Liz holds her USSF D License and has served as an assistant for both Goodpasture High School and Franklin Road Academy middle school. She has been working with our 06 academy girls program and steps up to lead the 06 girls academy this year.

Jason Taylor

Jason Taylor grew up in Spring Hill, FL and played his youth soccer with the Clearwater Chargers. During his years with the club, Jason won 5 state titles, 2 regional titles, and the Snickers Cup National Championships in 1997. Jason was a member of the FL State ODP team from 1992 through 1996, and was a 4 year varsity starter for his high school team while receiving 1st Team All Conference all 4 years, All State Team his junior and senior years, and Conference Player of the Year honors his senior year. Jason received a full athletic scholarship from Belmont University in 1996 and was a 4 year starter for the Belmont Bruins Men’s Soccer Team from 1996 to 2000, as Belmont made their transition from NAIA to a full NCAA Division I member. In his senior year at Belmont Jason received First Team All Independent honors. In the spring of 2000 Jason signed with the TN Rhythm (formerly Nashville Metros) in the US A-League, and played 1 season with the Rhythm. In 2002, Jason rejoined the club (now Nashville Metros) for one season during their first year in the PDL under coach Andy Poklad. Jason has a Bachelors of Science degree from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN and currently works for Nationwide Insurance in the Middle TN area. Jason holds an E Coaching Licence and has previously coach at the U-18 and U-10 level. In addition, Jason has held the positions of Deputy Commission and Commissioner for White House Youth Soccer in White House, TN.

Sonya Taylor

Sonya Taylor grew up in Southaven, MS before moving to the Hendersonville area in 1999. Her first exposure to soccer was in 2006 when she married her husband, a former collegiate and professional player. After falling in love with the sport she began coaching her son at 3 years old in recreational soccer. In 2014 Sonya earned her USSF E License and now proudly assists with the 2007 Boys Academy program.

John Tighe

John Tighe started playing soccer in Baltimore, MD at age 7.  He moved to Hendersonville in 1980 where he started playing in the HSC.  He was a member of Hendersonville’s early travel soccer club joining the team at age 12.  He went on to play at Hendersonville High School and was a senior on the team during Coach Russ Plummer’s inaugural coaching year in 1988.  Since graduating from the University of Tennessee, he has continued to play in various adult leagues.  John started coaching as a junior in high school coaching the 11/12 year old division in HSC.  As a high school student, he was also an assistant coach to the U13 travel team.  He began coaching again in 2004 in the MTFC organization and has been a coach with HSC since 2005.

Cang Tran

Cang Tran is original from Vietnam, he played for U 18 Vietnamese national team before moving to USA at age 20. He went on to play 2 years with University of San Francisco and played here in different Asian and Hispanic leagues. He started coaching in the MTFC organization in 2010 and has been a coach with HSC since 2011. He is also a coach for T.W. Hunter middle school. He is currently assistant coach in U13 Girls Blue. Cang currently holds his USSF E Lincense. He is now taking the USSF D license.

Zack Trobaugh

Tournament Director

Zack Trobaugh, a former player at TN United, has a National Diploma from the NSCAA along with a National D license from the USSF. After leaving the club as a player he moved on to play collegiately at Young Harris College and Trevecca Nazarene University where he graduated. He began his coaching career at White House Soccer Club while playing at Trevecca where he was a 2 time TranSouth scholar athlete. He currently coaches our 2000 boys and 2004 red girls teams.

Coach Trobaugh was named Boys Competitive Coach of the Year for 2016 by the Tennessee State Soccer Association due to work with the 2000 boys. He and his boys team qualified NPL and the premier division of SRPL.

Ray Trotter

Philip Walker

Philip Walker grew up throughout the southeast, playing for Hendersonville Soccer Club here, then in NC and SC as a teenager.  He went on to play at Division II School, Francis Marion University, before finishing his final 3 collegiate seasons at Trevecca.  He tied for team lead in points Junior year at Trevecca.  In high school, Philip was named to All-State, All-Region, North-South teams and holds scoring titles for two high schools- AC Flora in SC, Covenant Classical in NC.  The Freshman Covenant Classical School team was National Christian School Runner-Up in 2002 going 27-1-1.  Philip is currently an Assistant Facilities and Game Operations Director at Vanderbilt Athletics and holds a National “D” USSF coaching license and works with the area NPSL team as event management staff.

Rob Ward

Rob Ward was born in York, England. He moved to the United States for College in 2010 where he played soccer for Martin Methodist before transferring to Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville. Rob has assisted with the U-8 Academy having acquired his FA level 1 coaching badge in England and his National license from the NSCAA in the US. Rob was also the assistant operations manager for the NPSL Nashville based team in 2014 and will be coaching the 2003 blue boys again this year.

Stephen Williams

Stephen Williams grew up in Middle Tennessee playing with multiple clubs including Hendersonville, High School, and TN ODP. He was a 2-time All-State player, and Scholar Athlete of the Year. He went on to play at Georgetown College and 1 season with the Nashville Metros under Brett Mosen. This is Stephen’s first year with TN United. He coaches the 08 Girls Academy, coaches the Station Camp Middle girls team and has coached with HSC

Luke Wilson

Luke Wilson grew up in Birmingham, England before moving to the states to play for Cumberland University. He played all 4 years at Cumberland, captaining the side his junior and senior years and earning all-conference accolades his sophomore, junior and senior years. Luke also played and captained Liverpool Warriors, based in Dallas, TX, in the NPSL during the summers of 2013 and 2014. Luke graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Cumberland in 2014 and is currently studying for his MBA. He currently holds a USSF D License.

Zack Zettergren

Zack Zettergren grew up locally, in Hendersonville. He currently holds a USSF E license. He has coached in the Hendersonville Soccer Club for several age groups and seasons. In addition to his coaching duties, Zack served as a Director on the HSC Board. He is a parent of two TUSC players and is now coaching in the U8 Academy program and the 2004 Girls Red at TUSC.

Catherine Blakeslee

Yoga Instructor

Catherine Blakeslee is a Literature teacher in Sumner County School System. She earned her teaching degree at Aquinas College in Nashville. She is a resident in Gallatin and has been involved in athletics throughout her life competing in swimming, softball, basketball, and soccer. She is the mother of four young men two of which are mentally disabled with autism. She began her journey with yoga seven years ago and is now instructing at My Hot Yoga Place in Hendersonville. She also teaches at Sumner Regional Medical Center once a month. Having been an athlete and now instructor gives her a unique understanding of the mind body connection of movement and breath in any activity.

Dr. Tiffany Breeding

Dr. Breeding has been helping clients elevate their game since 2005. She began her work as a Performance Psychology consultant for D1 student-athletes in Tennessee and Georgia, also consulting privately with PGA, NFL and PDL Soccer professionals. Dr. Breeding earned her Masters in Kinesiology/Performance Psychology from Georgia Southern (’05) and her PhD in Health and Human Performance from Middle Tennessee State (’08). Breeding is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA) and Fitness Nutrition Specialist (NASM). This unique combination of mental and physical performance training led to the birth of “The MindBody Dr.”. During her years working with competitive athletes, she recognized that many of the same principles of physical and mental training prescription were effective and essential for success in the general population of fitness and personal performance. For the past 7 years, Dr. Breeding has been providing corporate and executive performance to clients through worksite and employee wellness programming. She designs and implements weight management, diabetes prevention, nutrition education and stress resilience programming for companies and management teams Nationwide. Current and past clients include law practices, manufacturing companies, construction teams and most recently Denver Public Schools. She has presented at State conferences and workshops for Colorado PERA, Broomfield Soccer Club, Tennessee State Soccer, Nashville Metros Soccer, Baptist Sports Medicine, Tennessee Orthopedic Alliance, and TAHPERD. Dr. Breeding extends her passion for enhancing performance into the youth fitness arena as well. In 2010, she founded, FIZEEK! a non-profit youth fitness organization. In addition she holds a National C coaching license through the United States Soccer Federation. Breeding and her husband live in the heart of Nashville and are owners of Mojo Fitness Nashville.

Stacia Lee

Speed and Agility instructor

Stacia Lee recently graduated from Tennessee Tech University with a major in Exercise Science.There she taught a college level weight and training class three days a week. She played 3 sports growing up year round since (soccer, basketball and softball). She played select soccer for the first Goodlettsville teams back in the day, when they originated. Her team was actually the first team of the club, Quest 90 coached by Marcogiulio Piccillo. She transitioned into United and then played for United until high school, where she went to Beech and was coached under Mario Sanchez. During her high school career she was selected All Region 1st team all four years and defensive MVP my junior and senior year. Also, her senior year got the privilege of being Sumner Counties Most Athletic Girl.

Staff Coaches

Jason Bentley

Jason Bentley has a USSF E license and has been working with the 03 Academy girls at TN United. He is also the head coach at Merrol Hyde magnet school in Hendersonville. Since 2003 Jason has coached at U-4’s through U-14’s at Middle TN Soccer club, one of our recreational affiliates where he was both the director of recreational soccer and eventually the president. Having managed a team at TN United previously, Jason now steps seamlessly into a coaching role.

Jeff Bode

Jeff Bode Jeff grew up playing soccer in Middle Tennessee and played select soccer with the Cobra Soccer club under the late Jerry Webster.  He was a varsity goalkeeper and founding member of the first Mt. Juliet High School soccer program.  Jeff coached the 03 Gallatin Rangers team last year and joins TUSC to work with the 03 girls. He currently holds a USSF-E license.

Michael Bolt

Michael Bolt played here in Hendersonville for Fever ’88 until the age of 13, then move to TNFC where we won 5 state championships between U14-U19. He also played ODP for the TN state. Michael graduated from Hendersonville High School where he still holds the all-time record for goals (64) as well as goals in a season (32). He was an All-State selection for two years before moving on to Coastal Carolina and then transferring to Marshall University where he finished his career. He coached at West Virginia Premier Soccer Club (U17) upon finishing his playing career, leading them to a second place finish in the state premier league and a semi-finalist finish in the state cup. Michael has a USSF D license and led our 95 boys red team into the D1 state tournament in 2012. He will be assisting the 04 girls blue team this year.

Chris Bosworth

Chris Bosworth, brings a wealth of coaching experience to the club. He has been the women’s head coach at NCAA division 1 Belmont university for 2 seasons. Prior to that Chris was an assistant under Earle Davidson in the men’s program at Belmont university. He has coached numerous boys and girls club teams in Maryland, Kentucky and Tennessee including 4 state championship teams. Chris has at various stages of his coaching career coached the Olympic development program U-17 boys and U-16 and U-18 girls. He holds a national diploma and an advanced national diploma from the NSCAA. He has coached the boys 91 red team and 94 red team at TN United.

Jeremy Cooke

Jeremy Cooke played and now coaches at Beech High School and played club ball for Hendersonville in his earlier years finishing that career with the Brentwood Lasers. Jeremy has previously coached one of the 95 boys teams and has worked in the past with both the 93 and 91 boys and the 98 and 2001 girls blue teams. He currently holds a USSF “D” license and most recently led the 06 girls academy at TN United.

Brian Davis

Brian Davis holds the NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, Youth National Diploma and the Level 1 Goalkeeping Diploma.  He started his Coaching career at his alma mater Green Mountain College where he was an Assistant Coach for the women’s program for 3 years.  He then became the Head Coach there and garnered Conference Coach of the Year 2 times and NSCAA/Adidas Region X Coach of the Year.  His team qualified for the National Tournament.  He then became the Head Women’s Coach at Caldwell College in New Jersey.  His Caldwell teams broke many records that still stand to this day.   After Caldwell, he was the Assistant Coach at Eckerd College in Florida for 5 years.  He has worked with the Murfreesboro Soccer Club the past two years and currently is the Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at Cumberland University.  As a player, he was a two time All American and All Time leading scorer for Green Mountain College.  He was inducted into the GMC Hall of Fame in 1996 as a player and in 2013, his 1992 soccer team was inducted to the Hall of Fame after having an undefeated regular season and two trips to the National Tournament.

Alex Frank

Alex Frank, was born in 1962. A native of Romania he played soccer in Romania at FC Brasov for 15 years at all levels. He coached a division III  team in Romania for 1-1/2 season before moving to the  USA in 1998 with his family a wife Ana Maria, and two boys, Robert and Rudolph both playing soccer at TUSC 94 B. Alex Coached for 1 season in 1999  a coed team in Gallatin before obtaining his USSF D license in 2001 and later a USSF C license. He coached the ‘91 boys team  at MTFC Goodlettsville finished 2 in div II. In 2003 start coaching the Fever ‘90 boys team. In his first season at Fever ‘90 finished 2 in div III state. He has also coached the boys TUSC 92, TUSC 90 and DIV I TUSC 89 teams and the 95 girls red division 2 state championship team before moving to the 96 boys blue team and then onto the 97 boys red team for their final year at the club.

Travis Morris

Travis Morris is currently the assistant coach / goalkeeper coach for Belmont University Men’s soccer program. He began working there in the summer of 2014. Before that Morris spent the prior two seasons at Virginia Commonwealth University, 2013 as a volunteer assistant and 2012 as a graduate assistant. While in Virginia Travis worked with Chesterfield united coaching their U-9 program and working with the clubs goalkeepers. The Westminster, Md., native graduated from Bridgewater College in 2012, where he majored in Health and Physical Education. Morris was the Eagles’ starting goalkeeper for four seasons, two time MVP and was named team captain as a senior. Morris currently holds his E license and Level 2 NSCAA Goalkeeper licenses and will be working with our goalkeepers.

Bob Schmidle

Bob Schmidle began playing soccer in New Jersey at the age of five.  He later moved to Germantown, TN where he was captain of his high school team and had the opportunity to play in several European countries during his playing career. Since graduating from the University of Tennessee he has continued to play in adult leagues for many years.  Over the last ten years he has coached both boys and girls teams ranging from U-6 rec. to U-13 select.  He began with TN united in 2007 helping with the ’98 boys and the ’00 Boys red and blue team.  He currently holds a USSF C license and coached the 2004 boys red team bringing them out of the academy where he led the age group.

Mark See

Mark See grew up in Hendersonville and started playing soccer the second season a league was formed. He played for Hendersonville United and was a three year varsity player at Hendersonville High School and captain his senior year. Mark has played in Nashville Men’s leagues and pick up soccer since college and continues to play whenever he can. He has coached for 6+ seasons at Hendersonville Soccer Club, holds a USSF E-License and is a grade 8 USSF Referee. He will be assisting with the 99 boys blue team.

Joe Shultz

Joe Shultz graduated from Union University in May 2014. He graduated with a degree in Exercise Science with minors in Psychology and Christian Studies. Joe has worked as an exercise specialist for the past 3 years and is certified through the NSCA as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). Joe resides in Nashville, TN and is currently the Wellness Coordinator for the Murfreesboro City School District. He has vast experience training for weight loss and muscle hypertrophy. Joe also has experience as a strength coach working with athletes at the college and high school level.

Eric Skinner

Eric Skinner played at Hendersonville HS and in both the recreational and select soccer leagues in Hendersonville as a child. He played at Northland College in Wisconsin where he was All-State Second Team/ All-Region First Team/ First Team All-District Team MVP, Team Captain. Eric is currently the Goal Keeper Coach for Portland High School Girls Soccer team, has been a head and assistant coach at King’s Academy (Seymour, TN) Middle School and has gained experience coaching boys and girls in recreation league teams. Having completed his E license he is now taking the USSF D license. Eric has worked with the 2002 boys blue team at TN United and now moves on to assist with the 02 boys red.

Rob Thompson

Rob Thompson grew up playing soccer in Atlanta, GA.  Prior to moving to Hendersonville, Rob coached U8-U12 indoor teams for 4 years and has most recently coached HSC, ages U4 through U7.  Rob is a parent of two TUSC players and is currently coaching in the U8 Academy Program.
